I've been thinking about my health recently, and I've wondered whether it's a good idea to pay for blood work, since I've never had it done before. I'm 27, kind of overweight, and am taking Acetazolamide/Diamox steadily (500mg twice daily). My physical was fine, with advice to exercise more.
I'm iffy as to my ability to afford it, because the only place I know charges about $80 for it.
The only reason I'm wondering is that I think I got a call (damn early in the morning, so I was groggy) from the doctor that did my physical, saying that it might be a good idea because of my medication. She said something about potassium levels.
Blood work?

How do you confuse a barbarian?
Put a greatsword a maul and a greataxe in a room and ask them to take their pick

If it includes checks for diabetes and such, I would go for it. Not sure what the drugs you are taking are for, but I thought blood work came with a physical? Maybe that was back in the day when there were less things to test for and they didn't need 4 gallons of blood to test?
But just for the sake of preventing diabetes, I would get blood work done, since you are in that risk range.

Play the game, not the rules.

Yeah, there are specific indicator levels for various medicines to see if they're doing damage to you or not. Very important. I say this with two years' worth of test requests pinned to my door that I haven't gone in to get done...
Still, do it. They'll also probably do a battery of tests (they have them sort of pre-programmed that way) so you'll get other numbers as well. Some of mine have to be specifically done, so sometimes blood draws are actually two or three draws.
*shudder*
Hence only doing it every few years instead of every year like they want.
